What verification means

  • A member of the Crewdentials team has gone out to source

  • Source has verified in accordance with their processes

Please note the following limitations:

The verified status is provided on a non-reliance basis. It is for you to use a risk based approach on the level of assurance that you take from the status.

Facts that are confirmed by source vary.  Some are limited to confirming that a document issued with the specific number was issued and has not been revoked. It doesn't necessarily confirm that the document belongs to the seafarer

What Verification is and isn’t:

  • The verified status does not "travel" with the document or the seafarer
  • We have checked that the name matches the name of the seafarer provided to us
  • We have not verified:
    • whether the training provider was authorised to issue the particular certificate
    • whether the seafarer satisfied all necessary pre-requisites for the specific course
    • whether the certificates are suitable for the vessel, flag or itinerary
    • that the person who submitted the documents is the person named in the certificates
    • whether any signature belongs to the seafarer
    • whether the seafarer has provided all necessary documents for any role, vessel or itinerary
  • The verification is given on an "as is" basis with no ongoing verification. If a certificate has been revoked or rescinded after the date we verified, we will not know

  • If an STCW basic is 4 elements in one certificate, we have verified one (that expires) and one that doesn’t expire and marked the others as verified
